Outdoor Meditation in Community
Come meditate in community, outside! As we know from both research and embodied personal experience, both meditation and spending time outdoors are healing, restorative experiences. Come enjoy some time outside, in contemplation, and in community.
Dates: Third Saturday of Every Month (Dec 21, Jan 18, Feb 15...)
Fee: Suggested donation $20 (all proceeds go to fund front-line social and environmental justice work via Global Movement Network*)
Schedule: 8:30-8:45 - Check in at Ocean Beach Yoga SF (3925 Judah St, SF) 8:45 - Leave the studio in a group, walk (in silence) either to Ocean Beach or Golden Gate Park (4-5 blocks) 9-10:10am - Lightly guided sitting meditation + walking meditation + Dharma talk/discussion 10:10-10:25am - Walk back to OBYSF in community (talking allowed ;-)
Bring: Water bottle, travel cushion or camping chair to sit on, warm layers, good walking shoes, rain gear if damp.
Notes on accessibility: We will be walking from OBYSF a few blocks either to the beach or the park. Some ground may be uneven, for both sitting and walking, so please plan accordingly.
Notes on weather: If heavy rain is in the forecast, class may be cancelled. Double check the schedule on the web site on the morning of class for final word.
Notes on registration: It is helpful if you can register in advance (visit the web site, go to the Schedule page, and find the 8:30 Meditation listing on the Third Saturday). Drop-ins are also welcome, but please arrive closer to 8:30 if you're dropping in, so we have time to check you in before we leave the studio at 8:45. Thanks!
